Tramadol, which is a prescription killer, is taken by thousands of people every day. The problem with this drug is that it has started to take more lives than any other drug out there, including heroin and cocaine. At least that is what Northern Ireland’s top pathologist claims.
Last year, a staggering amount of 33 deaths in Northern Ireland were linked to tramadol. Among them were a 16 year old girl and 70 year old pensioner.
Be Careful When Taking Tramadol
What people need to realize is that it is very dangerous and potentially very risky to take tramadol. What they do not know is that it can be very dangerous, even though it is a prescription drug. That is the problem in fact. A lot of people do not pay attention to it because it can be prescribed by a doctor and they assume it is safe.
This opiate-based drug has been used in treating moderate or severe pain and it is, and should be only available on prescription. Yet, it was reclassified in 2014, making it an illegal Class C drug without prescription.
Nevertheless, anti-drug campaigners think that even more and more people are turning to the black market to purchase this drug.
There is a professor, named Jack Crane, who has spoken out to say that he fears that a lot more people will die unless some urgent action is not taken. He is also calling for a crackdown on the illegal market. He is pleading for tramadol to be upgraded again, however, this time as a Class A drug. Professor Crane is now set to meet Northern Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer later this month to push for change. He is hoping that he will succeed.
In the meantime, we urge all people who have been using this drug to be cautious. Also, bear in mind the dangers this drug can cause. Stay safe and take care of yourselves!
